Braided elastic is easily identifiable by the raised "ribs" running along its length. It is lightweight and thinner than than woven or knitted elastics; but rolls more easily and tends to lose stretch when stitched. As a result, its ideal application is non-stress casings (sleeve hems, necklines, etc rather than waistbands) on light- to medium-weight fabrics.
